Who we are

This website is operated by Samuel James, trading as BrightFix Electrical (“we”, “us”, “our”). We provide domestic electrical services in Birmingham and the surrounding areas.

What this website does

This site is for information about our services and the areas we cover. We do not run a contact form on this website. If you request a quote, you are taken to Tradify (a third-party system) where you enter your own details. Tradify’s privacy policy applies to that process.

What personal data we process

• When you call or text us — your phone number and anything you tell us about your job.
• When you use Tradify — the details you submit there (name, contact details, job information). We receive this to quote and carry out work.
• When you visit this website — our hosting provider (OVH) may record technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages viewed in server logs. We do not use this site to build marketing profiles.
• When we do work for you — we may hold address, job records, and correspondence needed to deliver the service, meet legal obligations, and for accounting.

Cookies

We aim to keep cookies to a minimum. This site does not use analytics or advertising cookies (such as Google Analytics or social media pixels).

Your browser may store strictly necessary technical data to load pages. We use a third-party service (Tailwind CSS via CDN) to style the site; that provider may process technical connection data under their own terms. We do not set optional cookies that require consent under UK rules.

If we add non-essential cookies in future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where required.

Why we use your data (lawful bases)

• Contract — to provide quotes and electrical work you ask for.
• Legitimate interests — to run our business, respond to enquiries, and keep this website secure and working.
• Legal obligation — where we must keep records for tax, health & safety, or electrical regulations.

Who we share data with

We may share information only where needed, for example:

• Tradify / TradeHQ — enquiry and job management.
• OVH — website hosting.
• Accountants, insurers, or regulators — when required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

We do not sell your personal data.

How long we keep data

We keep enquiry and job records for as long as needed to complete the work, handle complaints, and meet legal and accounting requirements (often up to six years for financial records). Hosting logs are kept for a limited period by OVH according to their policies.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to processing, and to data portability where applicable. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
